When I started at IUPUI in 2006, my partner and I only knew two people in Indianapolis. While excited to start my job in the Division of Student Life at the time, I thought I would be at IUPUI for a few years and then move on to what was next.
IUPUI, Indianapolis, and life had other plans for me. I fell in love with IUPUI, this city, and the students we serve. More than 12 years later with a few different positions and now working in the School of Science, I am still a proud Jaguar.
What has made IUPUI such a great fit are the people, the mission, and the spirit of innovation. I enjoy working at an urban public institution engaged in our community. Education was a game changer in my life, as it is for many of our students who are first-generation college students. Our students, faculty, and staff are amazing and motivate me to do my best work. Many colleagues and former students I now call friends. I also appreciate that I have been able to grow with the campus. As a new professional, division leadership took an interest in my development and mentored me.
At IUPUI, I have worked in offices that are student-centered and embrace growth, giving me opportunities as our campus evolved and strengthened. I work best in organizations that embrace creativity and change. IUPUI’s willingness to be transparent about strengths and challenges and work toward inclusive solutions focused on student success make for a great environment. My children have practically grown up on campus, and Indianapolis has become home.
IUPUI and the School of Science are special places, and I continue to be grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside amazing Jaguars.
