College for me was really scary because I am a returning adult. I had a pretty good job that I liked, good pay, and a life already made.
My dream to become a dentist pushed me to return back to school, but it was a really scary process. Not knowing how things would turn out was probably the most difficult for me because I like to plan things.
On the first day of school, it was a little challenging because I wasn’t sure what to do or where my classes were, but everyone was on the same page so I didn’t feel so bad. After the first day of school, I started to socialize and got to meet a lot of people that are in the same boat as me and are returning adults, too. This made me feel a lot better about myself.
IUPUI has changed me a lot of because I feel like even though some courses are hard, I can do anything that I set my mind to. It has pushed me outside of my comfort zone and has helped me socialize with people I normally wouldn’t get to talk to.
My best memory so far here at IUPUI is meeting the pre-dental team. They are very helpful guiding me through this journey, and they really show teamwork. In high school, I felt like it was all about blending in and following the crowd. College is all about finding yourself, knowing what you like and what you don’t and growing into the person you want to become.
IUPUI is such an amazing school that makes every student better everyday. They push us to be the best we can be.
