I began my college career at IUPUI over 40 years ago as a math major. The Math Department was located on 38th Street where I took the majority of my classes.
Dr. Elaine Alton was an excellent resource as my journey continued into math education. I remember when I visited her office (frequently), she had a sign on her desk which read: "A messy desk shows a sign of intelligence." She was very intelligent! Every math professor that I had at IUPUI was top-notch! After graduation, I felt very prepared for the next stage and was able to get a teaching job for the following school year.
This campus has grown and positively improved over the years, and I am so proud of being a part of this university. I have been teaching at IUPUI for 30 years, beginning as a part-time math instructor. Now, as a senior lecturer for the Math Department and University College, I still share the same passion for math and education. It is a privilege to be able to work with first-year students and provide them with the guidance to be successful in their college careers, and beyond. I feel like I have been "full-circle."
