When I think back on my time at IUPUI, I'm met with memories that changed the course of my life and completely shaped who I am today.
As a journalism major with a marketing and sociology interest, I was prepared to be overwhelmed by experiencing the world from different perspectives. The professors at IUPUI definitely delivered on this front. I am forever grateful for Chris Lamb, Julie Vincent, and David Strong. Chris and Julie opened my eyes to a side of the world that I never knew existed. They sparked my interest so much that I now have a career utilizing the exact things I learned from my time in their classrooms.
Aside from that, how can you beat studying journalism five miles away from all the major magazine outlets, news stations, and other major corporate offices (Salesforce, Emmis, Simon Property Group, etc.)? Personally, I was able to complete two internships at Indianapolis Monthly Magazine, which basically kickstarted my career.
*The photo was taken after I switched my major from business to journalism. It was a scary move for me and I remember getting to my car and seeing this awesome sky. It was inspiring, and I hit the ground running the next week!
